The Thames Gateway is currently closed following a collision between several cars which injured four people.

Four fire crews from Wennington attended the scene at about 2.15pm to find the vehicles badly damaged.

Two men and two women were injured and all were taken to east London hospitals with one of the women, a 38-year-old, taken as priority, suffering from neck and knee pains.

The accident caused the road to become gridlocked and eastbound traffic is now being routed around the junction on the A13 in Rainham at the Ferry Lane Interchange. Diversions are in operation via slip roads and congestion currently stretches to the Goresbrook Interchange.
