Tesco’s Gallows Corner store has reopened after being forced to close this morning (Thursday, April 19) after travellers moved into the store’s car park overnight.

A Tesco spokeswoman confirmed the store in Bryant Avenue has now reopened, after not being able to open as planned this morning after taking advice from the police.

She said: “We are pleased to confirm our Romford Gallows Corner Extra is now open as normal and would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure this morning.”

A Metropolitan Police Service spokesman confirmed their officers were deployed in the area this morning to limit customer access to the store’s car park, but could not confirm whether or not they had been called to the site due to a breach of the peace or were merely acting in a supervisory capacity.
