Curfew given to phone theft boy
A boy appeared in court after stealing two mobile phones and damaging a phone display cabinet.
The boy, 15, who cannot be named for legal reasons, stole a HTS 8S and HTC 1X, worth £709, from Carphone Warehouse, Brentwood, on January 5.
He pleaded guilty to the thefts and damage when he appeared at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court.
A youth rehabilitation order was made for a year and he was given a curfew for three months between 6pm and 6am daily.
He was also given a six-month supervision requirement.
Brentwood Theatre will be trialling a walk-in box office service.
Between Monday and Friday from 10am to 4pm tickets can be bought for shows in the theatre’s foyer, which is used as Jean’s Coffee Bar. Previously tickets could only be bought over the phone, or via websites for some shows.
The service is available from this Friday, and you can pay by cash or card.
Fire crews were called to a wood burner on fire in a detached house.
The fire was on the ground floor of the house in Ongar Road, Brentwood, on Friday at about 4.20pm and crews said it was 50 per cent smoke logged.
Firefighters from Brentwood and Ingatestone put the fire out.
