A radiographer who was suspended for six months for being unprofessional with her patients has had her term increased to a year following a review.

Yogini Rajoo was suspended by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) last October on the grounds of misconduct whilst employed by Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.

A panel of the HCPC conduct and competence committee heard she behaved in an unprofessional manner when communicating with a patient, and was rude and unprofessional to another patient and their family.

This week the suspension term was extended for another six months after the panel decided her fitness to practice was still impaired

Jacki Pearce, panel chairwoman, said: “There has been no material change since the final hearing and the panel’s view is that the fitness to practise of Mrs Rajoo remains impaired. An order is necessary for protection of the public and is in the wider public interest.

“There has been no evidence whatsoever that Mrs Rajoo has gained any insight into her failures and no demonstrable progress has been made since October.”

Mrs Rajoo did not attend the hearing and did not send representation.
