Calls for action after a spate of moped muggings on the streets

Several reports were made to police yesterday after suspects on mopeds were seen in possession of a knife and or a machete.

Police were called by residents at 4.10pm after seeing the suspects in Hilldene Avenue, Harold Hill.

When officers attended the scene, there was no trace of the suspects or any victims but two vehicles had been damaged.

The suspects were reported to have driven off on mopeds.

Officers from East Area Command Unit investigate.

No arrests.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed an incident in Hilldene Avenue around this time should call the East Area Command Unit by dialing 999 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
