Community groups will now be able to meet up and pick up their groceries at the same time thanks to a new hub, based in a supermarket.

Tesco Roneo Corner unveiled their new 600 sq foot community room on Monday, in front of excited customers and staff.

Also there was Cllr Alex Donald, who cut the ribbon to declare the room open for business.

It will now be used by Age Concern, Diabetes UK, drama groups, cancer support and armchair keep fit.

Cllr Donald said: “Havering is home to such a vibrant and active community in many ways. I am so proud and encouraged that Tesco Roneo Corner are just one of 14 UK stores leading the way in recognising and valuing what we have on our doorstep.

“By opening up this room you are not just providing space, you are providing a hope to a whole community and a whole new generation of talent.”
