A thief stole £1,750 from a woman who was on her way to the Post Office before it was later recovered.

The man, described as dark skinned, and aged 25 to 30, stole the cash in an envelope from the woman in Station Road, Upminster, on Friday, February 15, at about 11.40am.

The man was followed and challenged by two members of the public, but he said he had thrown the money away.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
