St Francis Hospice raised a glass to staff and regulars at the Saxon Horn pub after a fundraising weekend netted the charity £1,750.
The pub, in Upminster Road North, Rainham, held a quiz, an auction, a karaoke night and a pool match to raise cash for the Havering-atte-Bower cause between January 25 and 27.
Landlady Karen O’Connor said: “We decided to support St Francis Hospice after I met one of their ambassadors and she was such a lovely lady. I’ve also lost two sisters to cancer and my oldest sister was cared for by a hospice so I know what amazing work they do.
“I’d like to say a big thank-you to all the regulars for supporting us – especially Chris Cottee and his wife, who were able to get Barclays Bank to gift match a large chunk of the money.”
