A community campaign is aiming to make a six-year-old leukaemia sufferer’s wish come true by paying for a trip to Disneyland.

Callum Davie, of Harold Hill, who has had cancer since he was two, underwent a bone marrow transplant at the end of last year and is in isolation at Great Ormond Street Hospital in Bloomsbury.

Having only flown once when he was six-months-old, Callum should be well enough to do so again following his transplant, and people of the area are participating in fundraisers to cover the huge health insurance bill.

Police officer Chantelle Hallwood, 24, will be doing a skydive on May 16 in the hope of contributing £500 towards the overall target of £10,000, of which about £3,500 has been raised so far.

She said: “I’m looking forward to it but I am really nervous because I’ve never done it before. But it’s for a good cause. I’m doing it in Kent and jumping from 15,000ft. I’ve got a month to prepare!”

Chantelle will also host a funday event at the Harold Hill Salvation Army store in Petersfield Avenue on July 5.
