Children visiting Father Christmas at a Romford grotto helped raise almost £950 for a hospital radio station.
The grotto at Romford Shopping Hall donated half the money paid for youngsters’ visits to Bedrock Hospital Radio, which airs at Queen’s Hospital.
Run completely by volunteers, it aims to help relieve pain and illness and help rehabilitate patients.
Father Christmas and his elves handed over the cheque on Friday.
Michelle Fitzgibbons, from Romford Shopping Hall, said: “Santa has gone back to Lapland for some rest after a busy Christmas.
“But he would like to thank all our shoppers for coming to visit him and supporting such a worthy cause.”
More than 450 children visited the grotto, which was open on weekends through November and December.
