The force was strong around Harold Hill this weekend as Star Wars fans flocked to meet Darth Vador actor David Prowse.

The actor, who played the vengeful Sith Lord in the original Star Wars trilogy, was the premier attraction at a charity convention held in aid of stroke victims at Harold Hill Community Centre.

Brian Muir, the sculptor of costumes and props including the Darth Vador helmet, mask and armour, appeared alongside Stormtroopers, Imperial officers and other former cast members.

Science fiction enthusiasts enjoyed collecting signatures and posing for photos with the stars while exploring the memorabilia on display at the event, hosted by the Iconic Legion.

The event also included a question and answer session with David Prowse, Brian Muir and Michael Henbury, who played an Ewok in Return of the Jedi.
