After rubbing shoulders with the stars at London Fashion Week, a nail technician can now file a national award nomination among her achievements.

Gemma Harding, owner of Belle Vie Nails, will be competing with five other finalists at next month’s Scratch Star Awards, after being nominated in the Mobile Nailist of the Year category.

Having only been working as a nail filest in and around Romford for the last three years, Gemma was delighted to be chosen from hundreds of applicants at the London College of Beauty heats in March - where she performed a luxury manicure before being grilled by judges.

It adds to what has already been a busy year for the Chadwell Heath beautician, who in February worked at London Fashion Week.

“I was asked to work with A-list celebrity nail tech Liza Smith’s team,” she said. “Having our work featured by the likes of Grazia and Vogue magazine was the most incredible experience and the biggest highlight of my career so far.

“I am so proud to have been shortlisted for this award as it represents the dedication and hard work that has gone into building my business and skills over the last few years.

“I have been overwhelmed at the support shown to me by my friends, family and clients and will be keeping my fingers crossed for May 11 when the winners are announced!”

In September, Gemma will represent the UK in the world’s biggest international nail competition at the Olympia Beauty Show in Hammersmith.
