A 57-year-old man has been handed a suspended prison sentence for an unprovoked attack.

William Woodhall, of Bosworth Crescent, Romford, appeared at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court last week where he was given the 26-week sentence which will be suspended for two years.

He pleaded guilty to the charge of actual bodily harm. The incident took place in May at The Manor in Harold Hill.

Woodhall must also pay £150 compensation to the victim, £85 costs to the CPS and a £80 victim surcharge.

He was also ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.
