The Romford and District branch of the Royal Marines Association raised more than £2,700 during a charity drive at Tesco Roneo Corner.

The fundraiser took place on Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22 at the Romford supermarket, with the aim of raising cash to support servicemen and women injured in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the families of those killed or injured in conflict.

Branch chairman Les Wright said he wanted to thank Tesco shoppers for their generosity.

“The Branch would like to thank Mr Earls and the staff at the store for their continued support of our service personnel, both retired and serving,” he added.

In total, shoppers donated £2,780.

Romford and District Royal Marines Association meets on the third Wednesday of every month at 8pm, at the Royal British Legion in Hornchurch High Street.

Anyone wishing to help or interested in joining can contact Les on 01708 509673.
