After two redundancies, Amanda Jenner picked up a brush and started a new career which has helped various women feel good about their appearance along the way.

Amanda, 44, of Turpin Avenue, Collier Row, began face painting two years ago and has developed this into painting pregnant mother’s bumps and post-mastectomy breasts. Her husband photographs the results and the women leave proud.

She said: “Some are really shy, others are quite open about it. Before they get the photos they wouldn’t dream of showing [their bodies] in public but then become quite proud. They all put them on Facebook.”

Amanda set up her company Just Like My Mummy after studying and gaining experience painting children at Rollerbowl, Collier Row Road, Romford, for six months.

For Comic Relief last year, she painted her first bumps and realised she thoroughly enjoyed it.

She said: “It’s such a lovely experience, especially when the mum sends baby pics once the baby is born.”

Amanda has contacted wounded soldiers charity Help for Heroes to ask if she can work with the injured troops to help them too feel better about their bodies.

Amanda paints, pampers and massages at Mothercare, Rom Valley Way, Romford. For more information see: www.justlikemymummy.co.uk/
