He left the 33-year-old, from Rainham, shaken but uninjured.

The incident happened at about 7am on December 23 after the victim was allegedly cut up by a Ford Focus at traffic lights near the Morrisons supermarket, in Orsett Road, Grays.

After flashing his headlights at the Focus, the man, who was heading to work in a red Vauxhall Corsa, saw the driver brake, get out of his car, and hit the victim’s windscreen with the bar.

The Corsa driver continued travelling to work in Grays, but when he stopped at lights outside the Thameside Theatre he again saw the Focus stop and its driver get out.

This time the man threw the weapon at his rear window, shattering it.

The driver was white, about 40, and 5ft 10ins tall. He had short, brown, cropped hair and stubble, was of slim build, and wore old jeans and a grey jumper.

His Focus is thought have an X registration plate.

Call Pc Patrick Bowes at Grays Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, if you have information about the incident.
