Residents have been left puzzled by a mystery tent set up in a park.

The set-up was spotted on Sunday in Christ Church Green, High Street, Wanstead.

Speaking to the Recorder, the tent’s occupant 75-year-old Don Meason, from Rainham, said he was in the park following a lifetime of “camping”.

The man, who said he had sought help from the Salvation Army in Romford, said he would leave the park today.

“I’m just travelling about camping,” said the man, whose family is in America. “I’m always camping.”

“I’ll get a bus and make a campsite somewhere else – I live a life of camping.”
