A 13-year-old aspiring architect has won the metaphorical yellow jersey after her Tour De France poster design was voted the best in the capital.

Alexandria Noon, of Rainham, entered the Transport for London (TfL) competition through her school, Brittons Academy, in Ford Lane, Rainham.

The Year 8 pupil attended a press event at the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden where she met Lloyd Warbey, presenter of Disney’s Art Attack, where she discovered she had won.

“My belly did somersaults,” said Alexandria upon hearing the news. “I was so excited and couldn’t wait to tell my mum.

“I love art so much, this is my dream to be creative and to bring my ideas to life.”

Students across London were challenged to craft cycling designs in four separate competitions, taking inspiration from the excitement of the world’s best cyclists rolling through the city’s streets.

Alexandria’s design focused on the benefits of cycling for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

She added: “I worked very hard on my design because I think it’s very important to adopt a healthy lifestyle and to make good important choices about our health.

“I’m so pleased and am very proud because I have won for my school and my poster design will be sent to many schools in London.”

Her work will be displayed at City Hall in London later this year, much to the delight of Alexandria and her mother, Jane Everitt, who was “overwhelmed with the fantastic news.”

The school’s head of art, Dipti Pandey, praised the pupil.

She said: “Alex is an amazing artist with a great work ethic and has an extremely bright future ahead of her.”
