A school principal has retired after leading a Rainham academy for 22 years.
Robert Sheffield stood down at the end of last term from Brittons Academy, in Ford Lane.
On August 30, Mr Sheffield met with his replacement Stuart McLaughlin to hand over the school keys and look back on his time in charge.
Mr Sheffield said: “It’s been a real pleasure running Brittons Academy and I’m really pleased that they’ve got a very experienced principal taking over who will lead the school to new heights.
“I’m also very pleased that in August we saw our GCSE’s continue to improve.”
Mr McLaughlin, who was previously the principal at Portslade Community College, added: “I’m very excited about the role and I feel very proud to be taking over from someone so experienced.
“I’m looking forward to leading the school in its next phase of development.”
