Dancers at a learning difficulties day care centre have been awarded for their moves.

Visitors to Rainham business Tree Tops, which cares for adults with a learning disabilities ranging from autism to Down’s syndrome, celebrated last month as they picked up certificates in Latin and disco.

They learned the dance styles in a six-month course run by Romford-based RKM School of Dance.

Project manager Tracey Lurton said: “They had a fantastic time during the course. It built up their confidence and gave them a real sense of achievement. It was all great.

“It was a big thing for them as they had to mix with ‘mainstream’ people as well.”

They completed the exam back in December but held a party when their certificates came through.

Tracey said: “They were very happy. All the family came here with friends too. The members have started rehearsing already for the next exam.”
