A public consultation on the White Horse pub in Chadwell Heath is taking place tomorrow (Wednesday).

After 400 years of service, the pub in the High Road closed in August last year, and was sold to developers Kingsbury Consultants for £4 million.

Now, they’re preparing a planning application which would restore the building, return a pub to the ground floor and convert the second storey into four flats.

Before submitting the application, they’re holding an open evening for people to give their feedback on the plans and talk to the architects.

The plans would also see 50 flats built around the edge of the site, three to four storeys tall, designed to appear as five detached villas. A ramp would connect the basement car park with the pub and flats.

Last year, a petition was made calling for the pub to remain a drinking establishment, and a Facebook group was set up dedicated to the survival of the listed building.

The consultation will take place at St Chad’s Church Hall from 5-7pm.
