Romford Constituency Labour Party has voted to support Jeremy Corbyn in the party’s upcoming leadership contest.

Members voted 10 to 18 to give Mr Corbyn their backing over rival Owen Smith.

Mr Corbyn lost a vote of no confidence before fellow MPs triggered the contest.

The winner of the contest will be announced at a Leadership Conference on September 24.

  • Good on Romford CLP. Owen Smith claims to be as "radical" as Jeremy Corbyn, yet such is the PLP's animosity towards Mr. Corbyn, they are - apparently - letting another left-wing MP be the sole candidate. Why isn't Chuka Umunna or Tristram Hunt, or any of the other right wing candidates going for it, as they are so convinced the country want another New Labour leader?. Could it be, that Mr. Smith is not quite so "radical" as he says, and will preach one thing now, and something totally different in office?
