Archant

The first results are in for the Havering Council elections and it’s good news for the Conservatives who have won all three seats in Pettits.

There were cheers from candidates Philippa Crowder, Cllr Osman Dervish and Cllr Robby Misir before the announcement was made.

Ms Crowder received the highest number of votes with 2,102 while Cllr Dervish and Cllr Misir were close together on 1,887 and 1,827 respectively.

Ukip’s Alby Tebbutt received 1,367 votes, only 460 votes away from being elected, but it was not enough.

Ukip had hoped to make an impact in the ward by fielding three candidates but Ukip’s Cllr Ted Eden will no longer sit in the council as he received 1,498.

Yesterday’s turnout in Pettits was high with 49.5 per cent of registered voters making their ways to the polling stations.
