Out on Elm Park Broadway last week, reaction to the council’s work was mixed discovered reporter James Schofield
Victor Kohter, 52, of Hans Electric, said: “We’ve had a few phone calls and many are against it. I’m happy with it.
“It’s easier for traffic to go through and there are additional parking spots on both sides of the hill and a loading bay, which is good.
“It’s not done a great deal for the shops. The display outside my shop will have to go as there’s just no room on the pavement for it. I advertise our key-cutting service on the sign and since it’s come in, there’s been a noticeable drop in our key-cutting service.”
But Rosebank Avenue resident Sue Bailey, 62, said: “The works have been a nuisance. The pavements were alright before and it’s just caused disruption.”
Meanwhile Frances Stevens, 55, of Elm Park Pets, complained about a lack of information about what was happening.
While resident Jane Simmons said: “It’s good that the traffic is flowing. The works have been disruptive but I don’t think it will affect the pavement too much.”
