A man has been arrested after police searching his home discovered a large quantity of stolen clothing and a taser type weapon disguised as a torch.

Officers from Gooshays Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a search warrant at an address in Leyburn Road, Harold Hill on August 28.

A 47-year-old man was arrested at the scene for handling stolen goods and being in possession of a prohibited item. He has been bailed until the mid-October while police carry out further inquiries.

Sergeant Brad Scott who led the raid said “We were pleased that we were able to discover such a large amount of stolen property. We were a little surprised to also discover such a dangerous weapon. I am very pleased that this taser has been taken out of circulation.”
