British Transport Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to after a woman’s phone was stolen at Emerson Park railway station.

The 33-year-old woman from Grays, boarded the 3.12pm train from Romford to Upminster and was sitting towards the first carriage with her back to the direction of travel on Tuesday December 4 last year.

She was using her phone while waiting for the train to depart, when without warning a man snatched it and ran out of the train as the doors were closing.

The phone was a black Samsung Galaxy worth £250.

DC Wildman, investigating officer said: “There were other people on this train when this offence took place and we are confident someone will recognises the man in the image.

“We urge anyone who recognises him or who saw the incident to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should call the police on 0800 40 50 40 quoting background reference B11/LNA of 27/02/2013. Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
