Havering Council’s cabinet is due to discuss plans to fund building new affordable homes.
On Wednesday cabinet will consider approving council funding of nearly £5.5million to add to the £2m funding from the Greater London Authority for a total of 70 new homes.
The council says it wants to help older people move from larger family homes to brand new bungalows to free up space in larger properties for younger families who need more space.
Cabinet member for housing, Cllr Lesley Kelly, said: “Fresh thinking is needed to provide the new, high quality homes local people really need, such as more bungalows for older people and two-bedroom houses for young families.”
