An Olympic medal winner dropped by a Harold Hill school last week to take charge of a GCSE lesson.
Great Britain hockey player Anne Panter, who won a bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympics, visited Drapers’ Academy in Settle Road on Wednesday October 9 to lead a hockey lesson.
The Olympian also signed autographs for the long queue of pupils during the lunchtime break, when they were able to see and hold her medal.
Mr Stallard, head of PE, said: “The GCSE pupils were overwhelmed with the opportunity to have an Olympian teach them.
“They learnt so much from Anne in a short amount of time, and are sure to take the skills learnt onto the pitch when they play their next hockey fixture.”
The Drapers’ Academy under 14 boys hockey team are the current Essex champions, and the year 7 and 8 girls are current Havering champions.
A 41-year-old man has been stabbed at an address in Harold Hill.
