Amazingly, no one was injured in a collision that saw a car totally upended on Mercury Gardens early on Sunday morning.

A driver had a lucky escape in the early hours of Sunday morning when they walked away unscathed from a crash that had left their badly damaged car on its roof.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed they were called at 12.06am to reports of a collision between two cars at the junction between Mercury Gardens and Victoria Road.

One of the cars was left crumpled on its roof and the road was closed for roughly an hour.

The Met spokseman said: “Amazingly it looks as though it was a damage only collision, there are no reports of any arrests being made or anyone sustaining any serious injuries.”

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service attended the scene but no one was taken to hospital.

The London Fire Brigade were also briefly called to assist with clearing the car wreckage from the road.
