Residents can find out about how healthcare has changed over the years as part of a new exhibition.
Called In Sickness and In Health, the exhibition at Havering Museum in High Street, Romford was officially opened yesterday (Tuesday January 15) by historian Brian Evans and Queen’s Hospital’s A&E consultant Amar Vasireddy.
The exhibition, which runs to March 23, looks at 800 years advancement in medicine from the herbalist to modern wartime medicine, the introduction of the National Health Service and many more topics.
Visitors can look forward to exhibits like defibrillators, medicine bags and stories from residents who have been part of the health services.
The museum will also be showing a film from 1948, which introduced the National Health Service and a vintage film on how to stop the spread of a cold.
A number of talks are set to take place to support the exhibition, including one on Thursday January 24 at 7pm on War And Medicine:How To Stay Fighting Fit in Two World Wars and The Unusual Experiences of a Paramedic on Thursday February 14 at 7pm.
