Ambulances, police and fire engines attended the accident in North Street, near the junction with The Avenue, at around 6.15pm.

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said the man was taken to Queen’s Hospital and his injuries were not life-threatening.

The road was closed and buses and traffic were diverted while emergency services were at the scene, causing delays in Romford.

The accident was cleared by 8pm.
