Police were called to a residential Hornchurch road late last night (Monday, July 16) after a man was robbed and stabbed in the leg.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed officers were called at 10.16pm to Hillcrest Road, where they found a 27-year-old man with a stab wound to his leg.

He was taken to hospital, but his injuries have been deemed not serious or life threatening.

The spokesman said: “Officers have established that the man was with a group of friends when a car stopped and a group of men got out and robbed him of his bag and stabbed him in the leg.

“The group then made off from the scene. The victim’s friends managed to get away from the suspects so were unharmed.”

No arrests have been made. Enquiries continue.

Anyone with information concerning this robbery is asked to call Romford CID on 101 quoting CAD 8275/17July or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
