A man has been arrested after a reveller in Romford bar Missoula called police saying a car was parked outside the venue, alleging the occupants were armed.

The victim called officers in the early hours of Sunday, from the popular late night haunt in South Street, and claimed the men had knives and they wanted to stab him.

He said there was an ongoing dispute, and he had been slashed at a party the week before, according to police reports.

The vehicle was known to police, and officers from the Romford Town Centre Team detained three men and initially arrested them on suspicion of robbery.

A knife was found in the car, and the driver was further arrested over suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and grievous bodily harm.

The passengers were issued with a dispersal notice for Romford town centre.

The driver was taken into custody at a north east London police station.

Inquiries are ongoing.
