A 26-year-old man has died after a collision between a lorry and a van in Harold Wood.

Police were called to the Essex-bound stretch of the A12, near to the Brook Street roundabout, at approximately 5.45am after reports of an accident.

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) sent two responders by car, a duty officer and an air ambulance and they were assisted by an ambulance crew from the East of England Ambulance Service.

A spokesman for the LAS said: “We treated a man for minor injuries. Sadly a patient was found dead at the scene.”

The man pronounced dead had been travelling in the van.

Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade also attended the scene.

A spokesman for Havering police said the A12 is closed eastbound between Gallows Corner and the M25.

Drivers are asked to avoid this area if possible, as traffic is heavy in the surrounding area.
