Major car crash in Upminster causes severe disruption

A car has been involved in a major crash on the A127 in Upminster.

The accident took place on the junction of Folkes Lane, just before the M25 turn off, when the car reportedly struck a signpost.

The fire brigade was called out at 3.40pm after the police were called at 3.35pm and the road was temporarily closed causing severe disruption.

The male driver involved in the incident, who was in a silver BMW, is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A police helicopter attended the scene, along with a strong police presence on the ground.

The accident took place near the stretch of the A127 in Gallows Corner, Romford, which has seen series of recent car accidents.
