Person killed in collision in London Road, Romford

A busy Romford road has been closed after a person died in a serious collision there this afternoon (December 19).

London Road is closed in both directions at the Waterloo Road and St Edwards Way Roundabout.

Residents have also reported seeing the London Air Ambulance land in Cottons Park.

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 3.04pm today (19 December) to reports of a road traffic collision in London Road, Romford.

“We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“Sadly the patient died at the scene.”

The Metropolitan Police have since confirmed that an 80-year-old cyclist was hit by a lorry in London Road and died at the scene.

The lorry driver stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made.
