A tree lighting ceremony took place at Queen’s Hospital on Monday as staff, visitors and patients remembered lost loved ones.
The annual service offered people the chance to reflect and remember, by sponsoring a tree light with a dedicated message as part of the Treasured Memories appeal.
Funds raised from the appeal will be used to buy memory boxes for children who are losing a loved one to cancer to help keep their memory alive.
Patients, staff and visitors attended the event at the hospital in Rom Valley Way, watching as the tree lights were switched on by Olivia and Sophie Churchill, who have recently lost their grandfather, Harold Churchill.
Tracey Wells of the Specialist Palliative Care team, said: “This is the eighth year we have run this campaign, with it being the perfect time of year to look back and remember loved ones. I’d like to thank everyone involved for showing their support.”
To sponsor a light in memory of a loved one, collect a form from Queen’s Hospital information desk.
