A London Fashion Week catwalk caught alight in a Harold Hill industrial unit in a fire that was battled by around 35 firefighters.
The fire brigade were called to tackle a blaze in a skip full of MDF wood outside the Trend Construction on Tonbridge Road just after 9pm on Tuesday night.
The fire spread to the inside of the unit where the catwalk was being built and six fire engines were needed to control it, according to firefighters.
Harold Hill Fire Station’s watch manager, Elaine Atkinson, was part of the team who first attended the scene.
She said: “It was going pretty strongly when we turned up. There was a large amount of fire but we got it under control.
“The fire badly damaged the single storey unit which unfortunately didn’t have sprinklers.”
Crews from Hornchurch, Romford, Dagenham and Ilford fire stations extinguished the fire just after midnight.
Nobody was in the building at the time and there were no injuries.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
