Five films by Havering College students have made it into prestigious film festivals.

Screened at the Co-op Film Festival were: Angels by Roy Kotulski, 18, from Barking; Champion by Chris Montengo, 18, from Barking; Sphere by Kudzai Zikhali, 18, from Romford; and Notes, a collaborative production by 20-year-old Owen Hayward, from Rainham, Thomas Young, 19, from Rainham, and Alice-Ann Bull, 19, from Romford.

And Harold Hill resident Ali Saula, 19, had his film Catch 22 screened at the Deep Fried Film Festival in Scotland.

In addition, a film by Ayo Sanusi, 19, from Harold Hill, was broadcast on a Manhattan cable TV channel.

Havering College video production lecturer Stephen Pick said: “The films as a whole were some of the best I have seen with everything from thrillers to art films, comedies and documentaries. This is a real success for video production at the college.

“I am immensely proud of what the students have achieved and believe that this goes to show that Havering College is the only place to study film and video in our huge catchment area.’

Havering College holds Artsmark Gold status from Arts Council England in recognition of its commitment to, and excellence in, arts education.
