Comedy stalwart Jethro plans to treat his audience to a set of “nonsense” when he visits Queen’s Theatre tonight.

The Cornish comedian promises tear-jerking, farcical stories featuring his old pals Denzil and Slip Along Trevaskis, at the venue in Billet Lane, Hornchurch.

He said: “It’s full of nonsense. The whole thing is nonsense. It’s a lot about nothing.

“If you want to go home wiser, then don’t come here.

“I’m sending people bonkers. I think some people are getting as daft as I am.”

The 66-year-old funnyman admitted he always takes to the stage without a clue what he will talk about and often goes back 30 years to pluck a gag from the past.

He never tours intensively in short bursts and prefers to tour throughout the year at a steady pace.

“Otherwise I forget all my gags,” he said.

The comedian, who recently displayed his support for anti-EU party Ukip, said he never likes to poke fun at audience members.

Instead, he finds great pleasure in making others laugh and thinks that laughter is the best cure for the worries of life.

“A doctor once told me if you could bottle laughter, you could cure a lot of problems,” he said.

“I was in Newark recently and there were these five old ladies, well in their 80s, in the front row.

“To see the old girls laughing as they were was great. I will never forget that.

“At that moment you haven’t a problem in the world.”
