The Liberty shopping centre has revealed that JD Sports will be partly taking over where BHS used to be.

The department store had been opened for about 40 years until it was forced to close down in August last year.

Centre manager Jonathan Poole has said that it will make up only one third of the BHS store as it will be “split into three separate units”.

He said: “We are excited to confirm that leading trainer and sports fashion store, JD Sports, will be coming to The Liberty. “The store will be located in a 16,970 sq ft unit that was part of the former BHS store, which is in the process of being split into three separate units.

“Our team works hard to attract new tenants to the centre to provide our customers with variety and the best shopping experience.

“We are currently in discussions with a number of other household names to fill the remaining space.

“We look forward to welcoming JD Sports to The Liberty’s community and hope our customers will enjoy the addition to the centre.”
