Talented Havering Sixth Form College student Chris Hatwell is through to the final five in a national songwriting contest.
If 17-year-old Chris wins, the track will be used to celebrate philanthropist Jack Petchey’s 80th birthday at events across Britain.
The song, Anthem, is performed by vocalist Amanda Ward, of Brentwood Ursuline Catholic Girls School, and composer and musician Chris.
Amanda’s brother Daniel assisted with the recording, too.
“Both Dan and Amanda have been amazing to work with,” said Chris, of Collier Row. “Amanda has complemented my work and we are still progressing, I’m really pleased to say.”
The song can now be viewed on the Jack Petchey Foundation’s YouTube channel – click the link to the right.
You can vote for the song by “liking” the video. Half the final score for each song will be generated through YouTube, with the remainder to come from a panel of judges.
Voting closes on October 18.
