A woman was killed when her car crashed onto the roof of a multi-storey car park before falling off the side of the building.

Police are now investigating the incident in Dover, Kent, on Thursday morning and are appealing for people who saw the silver Toyota Corolla on the road to come forward.

Witnesses looked on in horror as the car launched across the Meggers building car park and off the other side, after hitting a roundabout.

Brian Rees, whose office at P&O overlooks the car park, told the Recorder: “It is very difficult to understand what happened. For a few seconds I saw a view of the car tumbling in the air as it came over the top deck [of the car park].

“I could see people at the scene almost instantly but my heart sank as it struck me that in all probability I’d just witnessed a tragedy.”

The 32-year-old victim was the only person in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

She travelled over the Dartford Crossing at 8.15am onto the M25, before driving down through Kent to the A20.
