A Hornchurch Scout voiced her opinions to MPs at the Labour Party’s conference in Brighton last Sunday.
Victoria Green attended the “Scout speak up” event along with nearly a hundred other members from across the UK.
The 15-year-old aired her views on local and national issues to MPs including Julie Hilling, who represents Bolton West.
Victoria said: “I really enjoyed talking to MPs who care about our hopes for the future and views on issues that are currently affecting us.
“I was eager to make good use of this opportunity to discuss ways in which my friends and I can improve our community and help make a difference.”
Scouts who attended prepared the questions they wanted to ask the politicians before the event.
Chief Scout and survival expert Bear Grylls said: “Events like this are really important for Scouts who are looking to make change happen.
“I want members to feel empowered to fulfil their dreams and ambitions, value the contribution they make to our communities and to feel proud of everything they do.
“For all those campaigning for young people to get their voices heard and be a positive force in society I say well done, keep at it and don’t give up. Together, we’re stronger.”
