Hornchurch firefighters helped put out a house fire in Dagenham this morning (Tuesday).

The alarm was raised at 3.39am after the fire started in a third-floor flat in Gosfield Road.

The Hornchurch crew, along with firefighters from Dagenham, brought it under control in less than an hour. Two adults and one child had already escaped from the flat but were suffering from smoke inhalation. They were treated at the scene by ambulance staff.

Three neighbours were also evacuated from adjacent flats.
