» While everyone watched Kate Middleton’s much anticipated bridal gown a Hornchurch dressmaker was busy creating her own version.

Sue Goodchild has created two versions of Kate's dress and has already sent them off to her factory in ChinaSue Goodchild, the owner of House Of Couture in North Street, Romford, sketched two versions of the dress in 20 minutes on the wedding day last Friday.
Sue said: “Kate’s dress was absolutely beautiful and she could not have picked a better one.
“I thought it looked very wearable and it was a very simple but classic design.”
Sue, 58, took a video of the TV footage and used her mobile phone camera to get extra shots.
Sue, who once worked for the Queen’s dressmaker Norman Hartnell, emailed her versions to a factory in Guangdong province, China which started work on her designs.
Lace appliqué
Sue said: “I didn’t really need the cameras because it was a very clever cut and the silhouette was just beautiful.”
Kate’s dress was created by British brand Alexander McQueen and consisted of an ivory gown with lace appliqué designed by Sarah Burton.
Sue added: “My designs are just an interpretation of what I think Kate’s dress looked like, they are not copies of her dress.
“I have just made them more wearable and more commercial.”
Sue is hoping that six samples of the outfits will be available in the shop in the next five days.
The dress, which is expected to cost less than £1,500, will then be specifically made up for individual customers in time for autumn.
Sue said: “Every bride wants to think their dress is unique, that’s why I always say that there is only one beautiful dress however many are made.”
