Hornchurch and Upminster Sea Cadets pass the survival test

Hornchurch and Upminster Sea Cadets have passed an annual review with flying colours.
Cadets were met by Lt Commander Lewis, deputy London area officer for the Sea Cadet Corps on Tuesday evening.
He was shown around by the officer in charge of the unit Lt Sarah Butcher.
The team had a normal night by demonstrating an array of skills they have come to learn.
Juniors showed various skills including; seamanship, map reading, camouflage techniques and how to look after uniform for the recruits.
The unit, which was formed in 1942, was having fun by being given materials to demonstrate how cadets would survive if stranded on an island, naming the exercise “castaway”.
The cadets meet twice a week and is open to boys and girls between 10-18.
