A Hornchurch man arrested by detectives investigating the murder of a 51-year-old in Rainham has been bailed by police officers pending further inquiries.

The 46-year-old man, who police believe knew the deceased, was arrested on Monday night after a body was discovered in Hood Road, Rainham that morning.

Detectives from the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime unit believe they know the dead man’s identity, but are awaiting formal identification.

His next of kin have not yet been informed.
