Never mind 15 minutes of fame, school children had a whole day of it when their Andy Warhol-inspired artwork was displayed for all to see.

St Edwards Church of England Primary School in Havering Drive, Romford, held a creative arts week for pupils from nursery to Year 6.

Each group had a different artist to base their work on, with nursery given pop-art creator Andy Warhol while Reception were tasked with creating their own Matisse-like work.

Year 1 looked at the work of Seurat, Year 2 Henri Rousseau, Year 3 Vincent Van Gogh, Year 4 Dali, Year 5 Klimt and last but not least, Monet, for the Year 6 youngsters.

Gerrard, from Class 3C, said: “I liked the art exhibition because the work was magnificent and the children had worked in all kinds of artistic ways.”

All children were given the chance to work with an experienced artist and the younger groups had a junk percussion workshop, with hands on experience making music from household products including pots, pans, spoons and bottles.

The work was exhibited at the end of the week, with family and friends invited to see the creations of the talented pupils.
