Fans of soul, disco and ska music will be digging out their dancing shoes after seeing the line-up for this year’s Havering Show.
Headlining the event are 80s star Alexander O’Neal, known for his hit Criticize, Two Tone favourites The Beat and Native New Yorkers Odyssey.
Also performing at the August bank holiday festival will be Tight Fit, known for their ubiquitous 1982 cover of The Lion Sleeps Tonight, and local lad James Smith, fresh from his exploits on Britain’s Got Talent.
Tens of thousands of people are expected to flock to Harrow Lodge Park in Hornchurch for the two-day event, which will be sponsored by Time 107.5fm and West & Coe Funeral Directors.
On Sunday, August 24, Odyssey, The Beat and James Smith will grace the main stage, while Alexander O’Neal and Tight Fit will perform on the following day.
Cllr Roger Ramsey, leader of the council, said: “This is by far the most popular event we run each year, attracting thousands of people from across the borough. I’ve no doubt this year will be just as successful and I hope everyone comes along and has a brilliant time, I’m certainly looking forward to it!”
On both days, the main stage will see performances from Baby Ballet, Dr Zero and the Hotheads, Lydia Lucy and Kryptic Fusion.
There will also be First World War-era song and dance as part of Havering’s 100-year commemoration.
Over on the acoustic stage, also on both days, will be Sophie De Battista, Ryan Harman, Glen Godfrey, Ryan Montgomery, Kevin Manning, Paul Ziepe, Ice Skaters, Lisa Wright, Miss Morgan and Black Electric Parade.
The event will also feature local dance troupe Havering Majorettes and displays from Colchester Birds of Prey, Delta Dogs and Waldburg Shire Horses. A new circus, a vintage helter-skelter, flower and crafts marquee, trade and food stalls and over 70 classic cars will also be part of the entertainment.
The event will run from 11am-6pm on both days.
